Young Musicians in Concert with the International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE)

Young Musicians (YMP) perform on stage with
the International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE)

To culminate their residency at The Walden School, ICE will feature the Young Musicians Program students as composers and performers. Eight world-premieres of student works will be given, which in August will receive their New York City premieres at Lincoln Center’s Mostly Mozart Festival's 50th Anniversary Celebration. The program includes four Walden students joining ICE on stage for collaborative performances of a faculty commission by Terry L. Greene, and works by contemporary music luminaries George Lewis and Pauline Oliveros.

Bandleader, saxophonist and vocalist Aurora Nealand is a captivating,  interdisciplinary performer. Nealand was voted “Best Saxophonist,” “Best Female Performer,” and with the Royal Roses, “Best Traditional Jazz Band” in the 2015 and 2016 Big Easy and OffBeat Awards. She will be joined by some amazing musicians from New Orleans, featuring the music of guitarist Russell Welch, a specialist in gypsy jazz (a la Django Reinhardt). They will be joined by vocalist and violinist Dr. Sick (Squirrell Nut Zippers), Tomas Majcherski (Rhythm Wizards), guitarist Leo Forde, bassist Joshua Gouzy (New Orleans Jazz Vipers), and Tomas Majcherski playing clarinet and saxophone.
