****We also offer the option for students who have not yet completed 8th grade to attend for the first three weeks, June 29-July 21. ****
Walden Facts
Location: Situated on 365 acres in Dublin, NH in the Monadnock Region
Curriculum: All students take courses in composition, musicianship, an enrichment/specialty course, and chorus, as well as attend and perform in weekly concerts and composers forums.
History: Founded in 1972
Community Size: 55 students, 20 residential faculty and staff
Faculty/Staff : Student ratio: 3:1
Average Class Size: 3-6 students
Age Range: 9 – 18
3-week Criteria: option available for students who have not yet completed 8th grade (younger students may also apply to attend the 5-week program).
Recreation: Weekly hikes, and daily organized games, sports, swimming, and art and crafts.
Tuition, Room & Board
- $9,700 for 5-weeks
- $6,500 for 3-weeks
Includes all instruction, supervision, recreation, room & board.
Travel to/from Walden’s campus in Dublin, New Hampshire, is not included.
Financial Aid
Last summer, approximately 40% of students received need-based financial aid, with award amounts ranging from 10-90%. The completed financial aid application and 2023 tax documentation are required to be eligible.
All admitted students, regardless of financial aid application status, are eligible to request an interest-free payment installment plan.

Application Requirements
First step for applicants: request an application at waldenschool.org/apply
Applicants should complete the following:

- YMP Application Form (online)
- Teacher Recommendation Form (to be given to recommender and returned by the recommender to Walden)
- Short personal statement and parent/guardian statements (these are part of the online application)
- Submit the $55 Application Fee (non-refundable)
- Optional: Financial Aid application and Accompanying Tax Information
- Optional: Applicants may submit recordings, scores, samples of creative work, etc. along with application
