The Walden School strives to maintain a healthy balance between intensive music studies and non-academic recreation.

The first four weeks of the summer camp consists of classroom and individual instruction, chorus, Composers Forums, recitals and concerts, and special events provided by guests and Artists-in-Residence. Weekly mountain hikes, swimming at nearby lakes, dances, open mic nights, and intra-school sports are a regular part of the camp.

The fifth and final week of Walden is Festival Week. Students present their creative work from the summer through concerts, forums, and demonstrations that are open to the public. Parents and friends are encouraged to attend.
