PRISM Quartet concert featuring Walden student Jane Lange

The PRISM Quartet presents a breathtaking program of freshly minted saxophone quartets by Barlow Prize winner Ben Hjertmann; Goddard Lieberson and Guggenhiem Fellow James Primosch; Pew and Guggenhiem Fellow Anna Weesner; Jay Reise, whose work has been supported by the Fromm Foundation and National Endowment for the Arts;Kyle Bartlett, of counter)induction fame; and Jane Lange, winner of the PRISM/Walden School Commissioning Award. Primosch’s new work, scored for sax quartet and piano, will feature guest artist Marilyn Nonken, hailed by The Cleveland Plain Dealer as “a supreme interpreter of new music who blends audacity with sensitivity.”

2015 Young Musicians Program

The Walden School Young Musicians Program provides an unparalleled creative summer experience for musically inclined students ages 9 to 18. Part school, part camp, and part festival, the program convenes each summer for five weeks in Dublin, NH. Through rigorous and innovative daily instruction, students hone their musical and creative skills within a supportive community of like-minded peers and mentors.

-Enrollment limited 50 students, from around the world.
-19 faculty & staff (all full-time and residential).
-Curriculum focuses on musicianship, improvisation, composition, choral singing, and more.
-Concert series, composers forums, artist residencies, weekly hikes, dances and daily recreation activities.

The dates for 2015 are Saturday, June 27 through Sunday, August 2. Students ages 9-18 (including high school seniors) are welcome to apply. A shorter, 3-week residency is available for students ages 9-11, if interested. For more information or to ask any questions you might have, write us at students@waldenschool.org.

2015 Creative Musicians Retreat

The Walden School Creative Musicians Retreat (CMR) offers training and development opportunities for the well-rounded musician (ages 18+).

Faculty to include Caroline Mallonee, Sam Pluta, Loretta K Notareschi, Ian Munro. Staff to include Seth Brenzel, Marguerite Ladd and Sky Macklay.

The program begins with dinner on Saturday, June 13, 2015, and concludes with breakfast on Sunday, June 21, 2015. Some specific program details are still in the planning stages, so please write to us at retreat@waldenschool.org if you have any particular questions or comments about the program.
