Ilana Rainero-de Haan (Young Musicians Program ’05-’08)

Ilana, though from a musical family (her mother Ruth is a singer, voice teacher, and coach, and her father Pieter is the grandson of a Dutch composer), credits The Walden School with giving her a sense of her own creative voice as a composer. She and her brother Ben attended the Young Musicians Program over multiple summers and this year Ilana is finishing her undergarduate studies in Composition at Dickinson College in Pennsylvania.

Ruth Rainero (Teacher Training Institute ’08, Young Musicians Program Faculty ’10)

After her two children Ilana and Ben attended the Young Musicians Program and came back with glowing reports, Ruth, an active voice teacher and coach, was drawn to experience Walden for herself. Her participation in the Teacher Training Institute Intensive so energized her that she came back in the summer of 2010 as a faculty member for the Young Musicians Program.
